It's Christmas Eve and there's a lot going on at this time of the year. Every corner of the street, the malls, the offices and walkways are decorated to represent the Christmas. We have parties, shows, events, weddings and ceremonies taking place right now. The markets are not left out. There's a large influx of people buying and selling stuffs for the celebration. It's also evident on the roads, no parking spaces available as well as people traveling to various parts of the country to be with their families for the season.
In the midst of a lot going on, there's this great tendency that the Naija guy derails from the true essence of Christmas. So, it is therefore important that the Naija guy reminds himself of the significance of Christmas.
According to J. C Penney, ‘Christmas is not just a time for festivity and merry making. It is more than that. It is a time for the contemplation of eternal things. The Christmas spirit is a spirit of giving and forgiving.’ So how should a correct Naija guy celebrate Christmas?
1) Forgive
Throughout the year, we get involved with people who may be our relatives, friends and even colleagues. Along the way, we may have gotten into serious misunderstanding with one another that has made us cut ourselves completely from them. At this time of the year, it's time to forgive and let go just as Christ did. As a correct Naija guy, it's time you make peace with those who offended you. Please don't carry over such grudges into the next year. Do the right thing now.
2) Be Someone's Santa
Why don't you surprise someone this Christmas? Look around you, there is someone who is need, someone who may not celebrate because of finances, sickness or something. Get something valuable for that person no matter how small it may be. You can never know how much it means to that person. Give and watch the priceless smile on the face of the person. Remember Christmas is also about giving. Get something for someone today, put a smile on their faces. Be someone's Santa.
3) Be Grateful
It's time to be grateful for life and also for what you were able to achieve and what you are yet to achieve. Reflect back at those moments you faced challenges but you overcame. Be grateful to God for keeping alive to see another Christmas and for the love He showed you through out this year.
As we celebrate, let's not forget the essence of Christmas. Christ is the reason for the season. It's time to be grateful, to forgive and to show true love just as God did. Spend time with love ones, spend time with family and make sure you are cautious of everything that takes places around you.
The Correct Naija Guy wishes you
a wonderful moment this season.
Merry Christmas.
