Drug Abuse, the Naija Guy's Peril
The party is never a great one unless there is
an extra thing to make the guys feel high, you never belong unless you can take
as many bottles as you and never stumble, you can never last longer in bed and
satisfy your woman unless you take in some extra charge, she will never agree
to sleep with you unless you put some stuff in her drink, you can never write
that hit song unless your inspirational is motivated by taking it in, you may
never be relieve from work stress unless you consult the ultimate pain reliever,
you can never survive that emotional trauma unless you seek companionship in
it, the images on TV shows you this exciting and fun filled life and you too
decide to taste it to satisfy your curiosity. These reasons lure you into a
first time trial that leads you into an adventure that seems to be endless.
In Nigeria, a good number of young guys between the ages 18-35 abuse drugs for various individual reasons. One very interesting thing is the fact that the majority of guys involved in drug abuse were brought up by very strict parents in very religious homes. They keep this very clean record at home by been very discipline and obedient to the doctrines of the church but become rebellious children once the leave home for college. Of course, in colleges you are all on your own to do whatever suits you. It is at this point the doctrines pass onto them comes to play. The decisions this guys makes determines how well the doctrines sank to his heart or how bad the doctrines sounded in his ears.
Types of Drugs Commonly Abused By Naija Guys
Naija guys abuse virtually any substance whose ingestion can result in a euphoric ("high") feeling can be abused. While many are aware of the abuse of legal substances like alcohol or illegal drugs like marijuana (in most states) and cocaine, less well known is the fact that inhalants like household cleaners are some of the most commonly abused substances. Other form of drugs like Indian hemp, which is commonly produced in Nigeria and others like methamphetamine, syrups and tablets with codeine capable of intoxicating are mostly found in military barracks, schools, and motor parks and even with local traders that sell provisions in kiosks.
1. Alcohol
One of the most common addictions, alcoholism
can have devastating effects on the alcoholic individual's physical health, as well as his or her ability to function interpersonally and at work. Example of alcohol, beer, stout, ogogoro, burukutu, aspetesi, pito, palmwine, sapele water, kai kai they all contain alcohol.
2. Cocaine
A drug that tends to stimulate the nervous system, cocaine can be snorted in powder form, smoked when in the form of rocks ("crack" cocaine), or injected when made into a liquid.

3.Sedative, hypnotic, or ant anxiety drugs
As these substances quell or depress the nervous system, they can cause death by respiratory arrest of the person who either uses these drugs in
overdose or who mixes one or more of these drugs with another nervous system depressant drug.
4. Nicotine
The addictive substance found in cigarettes, nicotine is actually one of the most addictive substances that exist. In fact, nicotine addiction is often compared to the intense addictiveness associated with opiates like heroin.
5. Phencyclidine
Commonly referred to as PCP, this drug can cause the user to feel extremely paranoid, become quite aggressive and to have an unusual amount of physical strength. This can make the individual quite dangerous to others.
